Women Drop First Home MatchCHICKASHA – The University of Science of Arts got off its fair share of shots but still suffered its first home loss of the season to No. 16 Oklahoma Christian Saturday at Drover Field, 3-0. A very fast Lady Eagle front line got off to a quick start with a goal from Stephanie Duncan just nine minutes into the game, but the USAO defense responded by keeping OC out of the nets for the next 60 minutes. While playing better defensively, the Drovers worked to tie the score. Five different Drovers got off shots on goal including two from freshman Alex Cernigliaro off direct kicks and one each from Chickasha natives Jessie Brown and Haley Critchfield. OC’s Lisa Jorgenson collected all six shots on goal, though, preserving the shutout and OC’s perfect record. Duncan scored again in the 80th minute and Taryn Caylor ended the scoring in the 89th minute. USAO falls to 5-2-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. OC improved to 7-0-0 and 4-0-0. The Drovers continue league play at Oklahoma City Tuesday night beginning at 6 p.m. ### |
