Drovers Sweep Weekly Honors

SHAWNEE – It was a successful week on the pitch for the Drovers, and everyone took notice.

Chickasha’s own Jessie Brown and Rafael da Silva, both of the University of Science and Arts, claimed the Sooner Athletic Conference's Women's and Men's Soccer Player of the Week honors, respectively, for the week Aug. 28-Sept. 3.

Brown was named NAIA Region VI Women’s Player of the Week as well for her efforts.

Brown scored two of USAO's three goals in the women’s 3-1 win over Northwood, scoring the first and last goal for the Drovers. She has scored 60 percent of USAO's goals this season as the women improved to 2-0.

The USAO men claimed a 6-0 men's win over Northwood behind three goals from da Silva, including the first two and the final goals of the day. He was true on all three shots he took in the game. He has scored four goals as No. 25 USAO improved to 2-0.

The team’s played a road game at Bethany College on Tuesday, but both will return home for games Friday against McPherson College beginning at 1 p.m. The men play Saturday, as well, hosting Bethel College at 4 p.m.
