USAO Stays UndefeatedCHICKASHA – Chickasha’s Jessie Brown scored the first and last goal as the University of Science and Arts held off a late rally from Northwood with a 3-1 win Thursday. USAO dominated possession for most of the game posting 29 total shots and 17 shots on goal. Most of the attempts came in the first half with a favorable wind. In fact, the score could have been much worse in favor of USAO. Northwood’s Misty Rodriguez was credited with 14 saves, but she benefited from several favorable bounces off the posts. Brown’s second goal of the season came in the 28th minute from freshman Alex Cernigliaro. Talita Guindani scored her first goal of the season in the 41st minute on an assist from Kayce Godwin to make the score 2-0. In the second half, Brown’s insurance goal with nine minutes left kept a pesky Northwood offense at bay. NU’s Debora Valeri got off most of her five shots on goal late in the second half, but she only converted a penalty kick with seven minutes left. USAO improved to 2-0 and will travel to Bethany College on Tuesday. ### |
