Martinez Headlines Group of Signees
CHICKASHA – Heading up a huge list of recruits, the University of Science and Arts’ soccer team announced the signing of five more high school seniors. Head coach Jimmy Hampton now has nine incoming freshmen and six junior college transfers.
Highlighting the batch of newest recruits is Mount Saint Mary’s standout Gabby Martinez. Martinez was a three-time all-district selection and little all-city honorable mention as a sophomore and a junior. She was Mount Saint Mary’s captain and most valuable player while amassing 48 career goals and 21 career assists.
Martinez plans to major in elementary education and minor in Spanish. Her hobbies include playing the violin.
Among the list of players that signed letters of intent recently are Krystal George, Lexxa Kevor, Mary Rios and Nicole Thomas.
George comes to USAO from Scarborough, Trinidad and Tobago. She was named the club league’s goalkeeper of the year in 2001.
Kevor joins the Drover program from Springdale, Ark. Rios is another in a long line of Lawton MacArthur High School products to play at USAO, and Thomas joins former Tulsa Union teammate Brittany Jay.
