OLATHE, Kan. – Brittany Jay scored two second-half goals as the University of Science and Arts claimed a 3-2 win over Missouri Valley College Thursday in game one of the Pioneer Invitational. The Drovers will play the host team MidAmerica Nazarene University at 3 p.m. on Friday.
Jay, a freshman from Tulsa, now has four goals in her first four collegiate games as USAO improved to 3-1 on the season. This marks the second time she has posted two goals in a game.
USAO seemed in control for most of the first half on Thursday. Jasmine Jantzen scored and gave the Drovers a 1-0 lead in the early minutes of the first half. A Missouri Valley penalty kick right before halftime tied the score at 1-1 going into the half.
In the second half, Jay scored on an assist from Alex Cernigliaro twice as USAO extended its lead to 3-1. Missouri Valley pulled to within one goal in the 87th minute, but the Drovers held MVC scoreless the rest of the way to preserve the win.
