Winning Streak Ends for WomenCHICKASHA - One missed step cost the University of Science and Arts in Friday’s 1-0 loss to Northwestern Oklahoma. The Drovers’ Katy Swartzendruber miss-judged the ball on a routine clear midway through the second half of the scoreless game. The ball slipped past the goalkeeper just outside the box, and NWOSU’s Sherina Wood capitalized. Wood’s goal in the 70th minute was all the Rangers needed to snap USAO’s five-game home winning streak. Swartzendruber, who has claimed seven school records, has played 1,339 minutes in goal this season and has allowed only 16 goals and shutout five opponents. The women fall to 7-6-1 overall and 1-3 in Sooner Athletic Conference play. The USAO men and women travel to Crowley, Texas, to play Texas Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Saturday in the final non-conference game of the season. Both teams return home to host SAC rivals Oklahoma Christian at 1 p.m. Tuesday and Oklahoma City at 1 p.m. Friday. -###- |
