Women Fall, Men RescheduledBETHANY – A free kick in the 75th minute proved to be the difference in Friday’s 1-0 loss at Southern Nazarene as the University of Science and Arts’ four game winning streak came to an end in the Sooner Athletic Conference opener. The men’s game was suspended due to lightning at half time. “I thought we played well for most of the game,” head coach Jimmy Hampton said after the game. “The girls dominated the first half, but we struggled in the second. I’m not sure why.” Senior goalkeeper Katy Swartzendruber was a bright spot for the team with 10 saves on the night. SNU’s goal by Kelli Traves was the only goal Swartzendruber has allowed in three games. She has only given up two goals in the team’s last five matches. The men battled the fourth-ranked team in the country to a 1-1 tie before lightning caused the suspension of play. The game has been scheduled to restart at 5 p.m. Thursday at SNU. The two teams have a combined record of 15-1-1. USAO continues conference play at home Tuesday against Oklahoma Baptist. The women get things started at 1 p.m. The men face off against the No. 10 team in the country at 3 p.m. ### |
