Images: Global Dialogue Consortium and La Casa di Maria May 1997 Invitational

PART ONE

This is a multi-part collection of images I gathered during the La Casa conference. As time permits, I'll add more. The images reflect the central theme of our gathering: Dialogue -- with nature, ourselves, others, and (for many of us): The Other. Men and women from Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, from the worlds of business, profession, and scholarship, of many religions and none, came together for five days to share experiences and strategies.

La Casa reminded us of the BIG questions: What is the meaning of life? How can we make the earth a better place for the human family and all of its other inhabitants? What can each of us do personally to help? How can we form global partnerships? How can humaneness go hand in hand with economic profit? What are the best ways of building alliances with others to transform our shared visions into reality through action? And La Casa did more than allow us to consider the crucial questions: through Dialogue, La Casa also engendered at least the beginnings of answers and practical solutions.

From the sea comes life

and climbs up onto land

green with vegetation

and grows wings of body

and mind

and spirit

to seek its source--the LOVE which created the sea . . .

And rooted in the groundwaters of the primal sea, nourished by the elements of the earth, having finally learned to treasure the spheres that surround and protect us, we will flower upward toward the eternally transmuting source and goal, the Alpha and Omega

which will give us the strength to turn dreams into action and build the earth.
