Meeting called to order by President John Bruce

 

  1. Approval of the minutes from Nov. 2, 2005 (C. Elder/D. Hanson).

 

  1. Treasurer’s report showed a balance of $485.84, prior to purchase of 5 plaques @ approximately $14 each.

 

  1. Curriculum committee:  Peter Thomas presented a curriculum change for the Natural Science degree program.   The change would convert 8 hours of biology electives to 4 hours of general genetics and 4 hours of biology electives.  It would also change 8 hours of chemistry electives to 3 hours of organic chemistry I , 2 hours of organic chemistry  lab I, and 3 hours of elementary statistics.  The total hours in the natural science degree would remain 124, while the number of required science credit hours decreases from 56 to 53.  Motion to approve the change was made by J. Mather/K. Crow and approved (27 yes, 0 no, 0 abstain.)

 

  1. Old Business:  John Bruce asked if we can get turnitin.com at midterm.  Alan Todd will call to check.

 

  1. New Business:  Vicki Ferguson raised a question about faculty evaluation forms being printed double-sided, with objective information on one side of the page and subjective information on the other side of the page.  Concerns have been expressed about who is reading and tabulating the information.  Motion (D. Reigh/J. Knapp) to pursue having the forms separated, with the subjective part to remain in the division offices and each division to determine policy regarding subjective elavuations was approved (24 yes, 0 no, 3 abstain). 

 

  1. Announcements:

K. Lamar announced Holiday Art show on third floor with art available for purchase.

L. Magrath discussed Dr. Huguenin’s hospitalization and announced death of Burl Gamble’s wife.

J. Mather discussed Books for Tots and invited faculty to make donations and to help sort and distribute books.

K. Brown announced library will be closed during holiday break, but library staff will be available to faculty who call and let the staff know.
