Biography

Marissa Moore is the Associate Director of Alumni Relations and University Development for USAO. Prior to joining the university’s staff in September 2018, Marissa worked for her alma mater (Chickasha Public Schools) from 2017-2018.  Known as local townie, Marissa was raised in Chickasha from the age of 3, graduating in the top of her class in 2013 from Chickasha High School. She went on to study Applied Sociology with an emphasis in Law, Crime, and Social Justice, as well as minoring in both Philosophy and Africana Studies, at Oklahoma State University (class of 2017). In the fall of 2019, Marissa went back to get her master’s degree at the University of Oklahoma. In the fall of 2020, Marissa completed her master’s program, obtaining a Master of Arts in Human Resources Studies (MHR), as well as receiving a graduate certificate in Human Resource Diversity and Development. When asked about her educational background and how she ended up in education, Marissa often jokes that her “love of people, and the interesting worlds of education- both K-12 and Higher Education,” made her “fall in love with working in education.”

“Education has given me so much in life- not just the degrees and knowledge, but also connections to people around the world. Although I could go out and work in the corporate world, my calling is to give back to people. And I cannot imagine doing anything else, anywhere else.” When she isn’t busy working at or for the university, she is out assisting with local civic groups around the Chickasha area. In 2023, she was awarded the “Young Professional of the Year” award by the Chickasha Chamber of Commerce for her significant contributions to the life of the Chickasha community. Marissa joined the Alumni and Development team full-time in March 2023. When asked what she was most excited about, she stated “I have had the opportunity to meet and know so many amazing alumni from this university. The fact that I get to not only connect with past and current students, but also talk to them about all that is changing on and off campus is an absolute dream. I love this university, as much as I love my hometown. Any chance I get to share about the awesome things happening, I do. We have the coolest, most amazing hidden gem with USAO, and I am so thankful for all the opportunities this university has given me.”
